Club History
Our Legacy: A Century of Golf at Picton
Founded in 1907, Picton Golf & Country Club stands as one of Ontario’s oldest continuously operating golf clubs. Nestled in the heart of Prince Edward County, our club is a living piece of Canadian golf history—a member-directed, not-for-profit sanctuary that has evolved from a modest 9-hole track into a premier 18-hole championship layout.
The Evolution of the Course
Our fairways tell a story of architectural mastery. The original 1907 design was crafted by George Cumming, the legendary mentor to Stanley Thompson. Decades later, the expansion to 18 holes was led by Fred Purcell, with modern refinements by Steve Ward creating the challenging, mature parkland-style layout we enjoy today.
