Junior Golf
Junior Golf Program
Picton Golf & Country Club remains fully committed to supporting Junior Golf. Our Junior Program is designed to introduce, instruct, and provide an inclusive environment for all calibers of junior members—encouraging them to Try, Learn, and Compete as they grow into the game.
Junior members enjoy almost unrestricted access to the course, playing unlimited golf and participating in a wide variety of events, clinics, and competitions. The success of the Junior Program is supported by our Junior Committee and Club volunteers.

Junior Mentorship Program – (new this year)
Purpose
The Junior Mentorship Program is designed to help junior members feel more comfortable and confident on the golf course while building relationships with experienced club members. The program encourages mentorship, sportsmanship, and an appreciation for the traditions and etiquette of the game.
Participants
Must be a member of the club and have a registered handicap.
• Up to 12 Junior Members (open to both boys and girls)
• 12 Mentors (from either Men or Women section) participating in each round
The program encourages participation from across the club community, with both male and female mentors welcomed to participate in supporting our junior members.
Each round will consist of six foursomes made up of two juniors and two mentors.
Program Format
The program will consist of four 9-hole rounds scheduled throughout the golf season. Rounds would ideally be scheduled during late afternoon or early evening weekday tee times to minimize impact on weekend play and accommodate juniors and mentors who may have work or school commitments during the day. Tee times to be coordinated by the Proshop.
• Round 1 – June
• Round 2 – July
• Round 3 – August
• Final Round – September
Mentor Rotation
Each junior will be paired with a different mentor each round, allowing juniors to connect with more members while gaining exposure to different playing styles and perspectives on the game.
Scoring Format
For each round, the junior’s net score will be combined with the mentor’s net score to create a team total. Example – Junior player (48) net 38 + Mentor (46) Net 37 = Net 75 score. Teams will then be ranked and points awarded based on placement with the final round carrying slightly more weight (1.5) to create an exciting season finale.
Awards
Junior Mentorship Cup – Awarded to the junior with the highest cumulative point total for the season.
Mentor of the Year – Chosen by the juniors to recognize encouragement, guidance, and positive mentorship.
Junior of the Year – Chosen by mentors to recognize sportsmanship, effort, respect for the game, and positive
attitude.
Stay tuned as more information will be communicated before the season begins.
